Mentoring Agreement
Body
- The Mentoring Programme is governed and run by LGBT Great.
- The Mentoring Programme is designed to be a mutual learning experience. It has a dual objective of supporting Mentees, this means LGBTQ+ and Ally employees, in fulfilling their potential and also Mentors, this means managers and leaders, to improve their awareness of LGBTQ+ identities and issues so that they can be effective Role Models and Allies (sometimes referred to as reverse-mentoring).
- The purpose of this Mentoring Agreement is to ensure that both Mentors and Mentees are able to develop a mutual understanding of expectations from the beginning of the relationship. Additionally, it supports the responsibility to create a series of identifiable goals to work towards and evaluate progress.
- A ‘Pairing’ means the successful matching of a Member Mentor and a Member Mentee, which is managed by LGBT Great.
- The Mentoring Relationship means the 12-month time period in which the Pairing runs. Meetings should take place every 1 – 2 months for up to an hour as agreed by each Pairing.
- Pairing meetings should be diarised in Outlook and mentoring@lgbtgreat.com maybe added to the calendar invite for tracking engagement purposes at the discretion of the pairing. LGBT Great will not join pairing meetings in any capacity as these are strictly private between the Member Mentor and the Member Mentee.
- Both parties are committed to open and honest communication in the relationship. Should the Pairing run its course, either party can end the relationship, for any reason, and agree to abide by one another’s decision. Each party have a responsibility to contact LGBT Great to advise that the Pairing has ended, and the reason it has ended.
- Once a mentoring Pairing has been confirmed, it is the responsibility of the Mentee to drive the ongoing relationship. We also request that the Mentee updates LGBT Great every three months, with a progress update, by emailing mentoring@lgbtgreat.com
- LGBT Great will work to ensure that all Mentors are afforded a place on the Mentoring Programme within the calendar year they apply. However, this cannot always be guaranteed and we will try our best to make this happen through proactive outreach where needed.
- This Mentoring Agreement will support each Pairing by establishing communication expectations, identifying goals and outlining areas to be enhanced or developed. If at any time during the duration of the Paring one member of the Pair does not feel like the other is able or willing to fulfil the items agreed to above, please contact mentoring@lgbtgreat.com
- Both the Mentor and Mentees agree not to solicit or poach one another from their respective organisations.
- All details discussed during Mentoring meetings are strictly private and confidential between the Mentee and Mentor.
