Dan Traynor

Associate at Sacker & Partners LLP

About

Bio: Dan Traynor is an Associate and pensions lawyer at Sackers, the UK's leading law firm to the pensions industry, where he has worked since qualification in 2021. Dan advises trustees, employers and providers on all aspects of defined benefit and defined contribution arrangements. He has particular experience of scheme governance matters, de-risking and liability management exercises and pensions tax queries. Dan takes an active interest in equality, diversity and inclusion on trustee boards and regularly writes on the topic in the pensions press.

An active member of Sackers' Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Dan uses this position to promote LGBTQ+ inclusion internally and externally. He recognises that, as a white, cisgendered man entering the workplace in the late 2010s, the path to acceptance and inclusion had mostly been cleared for him by those who had come before. Dan believes that more work needs to be done to further trans and non-binary inclusion in financial services by amplifying trans and non-binary voices and stories.

Dan is a member of the Society of Pension Professionals Early Careers Committee and also serves on the Advisory Board of the University of Glasgow's Chancellor's Fund.

Away from the office, Dan plays rugby for the Kings Cross Steelers, the world's first gay and inclusive rugby team. He is passionate about LGBTQ+ representation in sport and in May 2024 joined almost 4,000 queer rugby players in Rome for the Bingham Cup: the World Cup of gay rugby and an exhibition of queer inclusion in sport. The Bingham Cup 2024 also played host to the first ever international all-trans rugby match.
