Senior Vice President Human Resources at PIMCO
About
Bio: Graham Birkbeck is Senior Vice President Human Resources at PIMCO in the EMEA region based in London and is a lead member of the EMEA PIMCO Pride steering committee. Prior to joining PIMCO in October 2020, he was Head of HR Generalist at 91 (previously Investec Asset Management) where he was responsible for the HR Business Partner team and Employee Relations globally along with the Learning Development function.
Graham was an employment lawyer for different City law firms, namely Baker McKenzie and Macfarlanes LLP and he remains a qualified solicitor. He has over 14 years experience in the Financial Services sector and holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Leeds.
In 2022, Graham spearheaded the completion of the LGBT Great's iiBT benchmarking tool in partnership with the I&D team, in which PIMCO received a Gold Standard. On multiple occasions, Graham acts both as member of the PIMCO Pride community and HR professional to advance inclusion and diversity at PIMCO and within the industry.
Graham took leadership of PIMCO's 2023 PRIDE Breakfast for the EMEA region in conjunction with our Global Steering Committee, which was part of a broader calendar of events including PIMCO's Keynote speaker event. Graham represents PIMCO at a number of external LGBTQ+ speaker events where he networks across the industry and wider LGBTQ+ community and in turn shares this information, which includes roundtable discussions at the Investment Association and InterInvest. Importantly he looks to discuss any issues and sentiment within the community, and how, if there are any, ways PIMCO can look to support out internal cohort that might be affected. Graham acts not only as a mentor to individuals within PIMCO but also a reverse mentor to our senior leaders, educating and influencing them on current LGBTQ+ issues.
