About

Bio: Derek Young is President, Japan for Fidelity International. He previously had worked at Fidelity Investments since 1996 in a broad range of investment-related roles including Vice Chairman of Fidelity Institutional Asset Management in the US. In his current role starting in January 2019, he serves as President and Representative Director at FIL Investments (Japan) Limited the asset management arm, as well as FIL Securities (Japan) K.K. which provides products and services to Japanese individuals and investors. He is also a member of Fidelity International’s Global Operating Committee and a Co-Executive Sponsor of the LGBT+ Employee Network, helping to drive efforts to integrate diversity & inclusion into the firm’s priorities.

Derek is passionate about being an active role model across Fidelity for diversity and inclusion and ensuring that everyone can see Fidelity is a great place to bring your whole self to work. He’s seen Fidelity become a champion for diversity in the last few years and is proud to be a part of helping make that happen.

Derek received a Bachelor of Science degree from Troy University in 1986 and received an MBA from Vanderbilt University in 1991 where he is a former member of the Alumni Board of Directors and currently Chair and founding member for the Asian Alumni Board. He is also Vice Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce Japan (ACCJ) Financial Services Forum Committee, and he was a member of the Investment Trust Association Board in Japan. Derek is a CFA® charter holder.
