Gary Browne
BBH
About
Bio: Gary Browne joined BBH in 1996 and is currently a Program Manager within the firm's Change Management group. As such he has oversight for the execution of projects sponsored by the Global Tax Services and Global Depository & Trustee Function business areas. Prior to this role, he held positions within the Client Technology Management, Fintech Infomediary and Client Service teams. He has worked within the financial services industry for over 30 years after starting at offshore fund management institutions in the Isle of Man.
Gary is a co-chair of the BBH Pride network and has enjoyed being a leader in its growth and is proud to say it now has membership across all of BBH's European offices. BBH's inclusive workplace culture and its employee-led Pride Network creates a welcoming community for employees who identify as LGBTQ+ and their allies. Through education and advocacy, Pride raises awareness of topics relevant to the LGBTQ community, helping to create a diverse, accepting, and inclusive workplace.
Growing up and starting his early career on a small island at a time when being gay was still a criminal offence, Gary understands the negative impact covering can have on building productive relationships and believes everyone should feel empowered to bring their whole self to work regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Fast forward, and Gary has been with his partner Gareth for more than 20 years, happily now in a legally recognised civil partnership, has access to inclusive employee benefits and is pleased to see Pride becoming more a celebration of our differences.
Whilst the decision to be out (or not) in the workplace is always a personal one, Gary hopes that having more visible LGBTQ+ role models will help individuals base their decision more on authenticity than the fear of repercussion.
