About
Bio: Sheldon is the Executive Director, Consumers and Competition at the Financial Conduct Authority. In this capacity, he is responsible for the delivery of the FCA’s statutory consumer and competition objectives within the Supervision, Policy and Competition (SPC) division. Before assuming this role, Sheldon was the Interim Executive Director of Strategy and Competition at the FCA.
Prior to joining the FCA, as Senior Director at the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), Sheldon had overall leadership responsibility for the delivery of UK merger control across the entire economy and for the strategic design and implementation of the new UK State Aid regime.
Sheldon is a qualified solicitor and practiced law at King & Wood Mallesons and Jones Day.
Sheldon is also the longest-standing trustee of Stonewall, an LGBT+ charity in the UK. Throughout his time at Stonewall, Sheldon has been particularly involved with the charity’s move to becoming more trans-inclusive.
